5 days post op!

Well we have made it five days! Kaden has been soo much more needy. Which is understandable but gosh! He will only eat formula a few times aday. The rest of the time it's pedialyte or water/juice. He did eat an ENTIRE jar of baby food yesterday! I think that is the first time ever. Not really but in a while :) He's been crawling around all over the place. 5 more days of the no no's. I take them off of him a few times a day and let him play but as soon as his hand is starting to go up to his mouth they are back on! Poor boy, at least we are SO limited this time like with his lip repair. He sleeps with me, sleeps on his belly etc. Last time he was a prisinor lol slept in his carseat, couldnt crawl, sat in his highchair or walker or i would hold him.

We went on a walk yesterday so he could get some freshair and a change of scenery. I want to do that again today BUT i can't take a shower until mom gets home. So tomorrow i guess :) Ok well i am going to go fix something for lunch while Kaden is napping.

2 days post op

I haven't gotten a chance to write about his surgery yet. So here is the "story" :)

Tuesday morning we got to the hospital around 7:30 to register. Did all that got up stairs, there was 3 other babies in the pre-op room. But one left right as soon as got there she was one of 6 cleft patients for Joganic that day! Then another baby came in for another doctor. Kaden played crawled around after all the cribs left. They got new infant toys in the room so it was more fun this time! He got tired at the end, after waiting for 3 hours who wouldn't! He fell asleep while we rocked in the rocking chair. Then everyone came into talk to me. I did VERY well and didnt cry until the anethesologist game to talk to me, then the nurse i cried then too. Kaden woke up when i gave him over to the nurse and cried for a few seconds.

I went to the waiting area and waited for my mom and Yasmine to get there. Then we went and got coffee, and something to eat. Then back up to waiting. I was talking to my mom about Kaden and then she got up this lady waiting also asked what my baby was in surgery for i told her cleft palate. She said her daughter was having a surgery related. She was born with a cleft lip & palate. She was 22. We chatted for a while. They see the other doctor that is in Kaden's PS's office. Shortly after 12 Joganic was done! Shorter than his lip repair! He said everything went well and it's all lined up wonderful he has a nice arch. Then it took forever (again) for the to call me back to recovery. The nurse came and got me, we got in recovery then she took me back out because the other nurses were trying to fix his IV in his hand. They had me go back and hold him while they tried, but ended up having to take it out :( poor baby. He had new no no's blue ones this time, but no strap! Good thing i had the other pair still with the strap. They called transportation and i got to carry him to Ped's. Heavy little man!

At first we were in our own room for a few hours. But then they needed that room for someone else. SO we got put in the room with the other two cleft palate babies! Which was nice since we all just been through the same thing we understood our babies pain. and our babies ended up being on the same scheduale that night! Which was awesome, didnt have to worry about someone waking someone up. Kaden didn't eat too much that night, he did take his tylenol very well though. He slept with me OF COURSE :). He did sleep in the crib two times though! We didnt have a bathroom in our room so we had to walk down the hall, which kind of sucked! Last time the toilet was right there oh well :) He slept pretty well around 2am he was running a fever of 102 but it went down after taking tylenol his FIRST fever ever! lol is that a milestone.

He started drinking in the morning a little only by syringe though. Which is fine at least he was drinking! Joganic took FOREVER to get up to see us so we didnt get out of the hospital until 5 pm! Talk about a waisted day in the hospital. Thank god i had extra pain meds from his last surgery. I held off on getting his new ones until the next day. No way did i want to walk into anywhere and have to wait! Although after we got home our apt comunity was having Mr. & Mrs Claus at a party so Yasmine wanted to go we walked down there, get Kaden out in fresh air for a while! He was good as usual didnt complain. He was looking and Santa so i was going to put him on his lap but he started crying so he just wanted to look at him. We went home and had dinner. Boy was that a mistake, Kaden mauled me trying to get my food! Everytime i eat he does that poor baby.

We went to town the next day and he was SO good, he is like the best baby ever he never gets cranky when we go shopping even if we are out ALL day. He rode in the car just fine, looked. Got him some new Pj's they are so cute!

3 days until surgery

Wow is surgery coming fast or what! His pre-op went very well. I asked the PS some questions that i had not all of them since there were SO many. But the main ones. He doesn't use donor tissue, he doesnt leave a fistula. He may or may not repair his gumline ( i think is what he said) and he will get his no no's off Christmas Eve. I hope! :) No bottle for 10 days. And we are staying over night again. Monday we are going to see Santa. If i knew how he was going to react and that he was going to be out of the hospital for sure on Wed. I would just wait and let him do it here at our appt. community they are having santa and taking pictures. But i can't predict the future! lol if only i could.

Kaden has been pretty cranky the past few nights waking up and this morning he woke up with alot of "wax" or discharge in his ear. I sure hope it's nothing. He hasn't been pulling or grabbing at his ears. So i dont think they are bothering him. If i have to there is a pediactric office right down the road it's open from 5pm to 6 am i think. So i will take him there instead of the ER. Especially since i dont think it is really anything. !

Kaden has been eating Cheerios for the last few days.. He really likes them! He tried hamburger the other night and well he didnt like it. Which i dont blame him i'm not a hamburger fan either. I'm trying fruit again today. He ate an apple with me yesterday.

Well i am off to pick up my room and get laundry started.. fun fun :)

3 days until pre-op!

Can you believe only 3 days! That is when i find out everything, how long it's going to take, what exactly they are doing, if we will stay in the hospital how long.. ahh!

No it really hasn't hit me yet that he's having surgery soon. It will either hit after his apt or during or when we are at the hospital that morning!

Kaden is getting so big and learning SO many new things! He shakes his head NO when you say no or yes.. it's very cute. He is starting to pull up to standing, even standing for a half a second on his own! His first tooth is half way up and his second one is right there you can feel it but can't quiet see it yet. He is over comming a double ear infection & a clogged tube :( Just finished his antibiotics yesterday. they didn't rescheduale a visit to see if it cleared up so i'm going to call on Monday (tomarrow) to see if i can bring him in. I hope they have something before Wed. Oh well. He seems to be better alot better! I can't believe he's already 10 months old either.. my lil baby is going to be 1 soon... He gets mad when you say no to him when he's doing something he's not supposed to. I love him SOO much! I truely never thought you could love anything as much as you love your kid. It's amazing! Well that is it for now. I need to wash bottles & then Kaden needs to go down for a nap.. it took him a while to fall asleep yesterday i sure hope it's not the same today!
